THE early 90s saw the arrival of bands like Oasis from Manchester, Blur from Essex ... and Sweet Mercy from Burscough.

The five-piece band came back to the town to play a gig at the Barons pub in 1992 after touring all over the UK.

The group were formed a year earlier and were made up of guitarist Tim Bradley, drummer Simon Ward, on keyboards Paul Draper, Tim ‘TJ’ Jarvis and Simon ‘Flash’ Gordon.

At the time Tim Bradley told the Advertiser: “We have done more than 50 gigs in the last year. We have played Preston, Southport, Oldham, Macclesfield and South Wales and travelled down to Guernsey to record our album Unlock The Door.

“We put it together in five days, sometimes working up to 18 hours a day. It was hard work but it was a great experience.”
