THIS week we catch up with the cast of “The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew” as we sift through the 1991 Advertiser archives.
Competition for roles at BURSCOUGH PRIORY HIGH SCHOOL was fierce as all the pupils wanted to take part in the children’s play about a beastly baron who strikes terror among the natives, ruling the Bolligrew Islands with an iron fist and calling on a demon dragon to gobble up those who disobey him.
The story of the heroic knight Sir Oblong, who is sent from the mainland to restore peace by slaying the vicious dragon, is the creation of Manchester playwright Robert Bolt.
