1986: Martial Arts experts in Ormskirk
This week experts from the Ormskirk Academy of Martial Arts drop in from 1986.
Nicola Ibison and Jeff Bullock were named the ‘Fittest Couple in Britain’ after a gruelling competition at the Thorpe Park Hotel in London.
Jeff was a British Thai Boxing champion and the pair both had black belts in jujitsu and karate.
The couple had a strict training regime to prepare themselves for the ‘Krypton Factor’ style obstacle course test.
They also appeared with ‘Mad’ Lizzie in a aerobics session on TVAM.
Nicola, from Delph Lane in Aughton, told the Advertiser at the time: “Our training helped us a lot because our sport is so explosive. We are over the moon.�
