This picture shows a very cheeky puppy named Ben. He was featured on the front page of the Advertiser in February 1994, after clearing out the whole contents of the fridge while his owners slept.


He ate a whole chicken, an Edam and several other cheeses, 20 tubs of yoghurt and half an apple pie.

THIS picture which was published in the Advertiser in January 1994, but was actually taken 57 years previously in 1938.


The picture shows Emma Forshaw of Dyers Lane, Ormskirk on her 100th birthday, with four other generations of her family, taken in their garden.


Emma was a great character in the town. As well as being a pipe smoker she was noted for keeping a parrot which perched on her shoulder.
